To live on an island and make music is definitely a dream that is dreamed by many. For producer and songwriter, Winston Hauschild, it’s a reality, and it happens on Bowen Island. It’s just a short ferry ride from Vancouver, BC, but it’s a different world when you’re there, especially when you’re there to make music. Are you living your dream? What is your dream life with music? Are distractions ruining your creative flow?


Winston has been writing songs and producing records for more than 20 years, and has come to realize that he never had much of choice but to make music for a living. Born into a musical family, music came naturally to Winston, and his family naturally supported his life in the arts. He is an artist at heart, but his focus these days is music production, and he works with many artists out of The Treehouse Studio on Bowen Island. I don’t want to make records with people at a destination studio, said no one ever.

Serena has quickly learned to represent herself so eloquently with music, stemming from an unavoidable desire to create. What have the past 2 years been like for you? Do you create your own reality, or are you happy consuming what others make?


For someone who considers themselves brand new to the music industry, Serena is certainly moving quickly past the hurdles that prevent most from living a life as an artist, producer, or songwriter. Money, self-doubt, and social/cultural expectations can stop even the most determined. Serena knows that passion alone is not enough to make it in this business, but that doesn't stop her from staying inspired.

We found a portal leading to the inner monologue that creates Elisa. What are you good enough at? Are you terrified of not being recognized? Are you interesting enough?


Most would find it difficult or exhausting to juggle being great at producing, engineering, mastering, and songwriting, but Elisa takes it all in stride. There are parts of Elisa that only a rare few get to experience, but those that do must know how truly talented she really is.
