    _thunder pads contains 64 sound presets for Ableton’s Wavetable synthesizer. Custom oscillators made from field recordings of real thunder makes this unique collection of pads simultaneously lush and epic.


    We started with our own favourite slices of thunder recordings we’ve collected over the years. We find the low harmonics in thunder to be both heavy but also grain-like at times, which makes pad sounds that can go from smooth and thick, to grainy, almost lo-fi - plus anything in between. These 64 hand crafted pads can function as a solid set of sustains to give your production a backdrop of harmonic consistency, or a single pad preset in any modern production. The presets were created in Ableton 11.3, and we’ve included handy filters and tags for Ableton 12 users. 


    We designed the pads to be played with great amounts of dynamics and expression. Both velocity and your modulation wheel are your friends with these pads. Playing softer will give you a more subdued sound, and playing harder will open things up in many wondrous ways. Moving the mod wheel upwards will smooth out your sound into a thick and syrupy sauce, while leaving it down will give you a more raw, vintage and grainy sound. MPE enabled modulation routings will also respond in subtle ways to pressure and slide expressions. Many sounds evolve over time, so be sure to give those long notes some love.

      Set yourself adrift on these 100 pads that were created with the same contemporary aesthetic in mind. A palette of pads that shift and drift in subtle enough ways to keep things subliminally dynamic. We wanted these sounds to have a consistent personality and sit in any mix with a focused purpose.       There are 100 different presets that are macro-based, so you never need to dive into Drift itself (unless you want to). With 16 knobs and 100 presets at your disposal, you could still be fishing for sounds all day.


      We designed some drifty effects around our take on pad design with Ableton’s new synthesizer, giving these pads and instrument a unique flavour profile that’s current enough, but also classic enough.


      To get you started, there are also 24 chord progressions ready to use as MIDI files in any DAW, or as Ableton Live Clips (.ALC) that come paired with suggested pad presets.
