_tidal drift brings 100 postmodern pads and a MIDI chord progression pack for Ableton Drift. Clean, modern, & perfectly peripatetic.

Set yourself adrift on these 100 pads that were created with the same contemporary aesthetic in mind. A palette of pads that shift and drift in subtle enough ways to keep things subliminally dynamic. We wanted these sounds to have a consistent personality and sit in any mix with a focused purpose. We think they’ll serve you well.

There are 100 different presets that are macro-based, so you never need to dive into Drift itself (unless you want to). With 16 knobs and 100 presets at your disposal, you could still be fishing for sounds all day.

We designed some drifty effects around our take on pad design with Ableton’s new synthesizer, giving these pads and instrument a unique flavour profile that’s current enough, but also classic enough.

To get you started, there are also 24 chord progressions ready to use as MIDI files in any DAW, or as Ableton Live Clips (.ALC) that come paired with suggested pad presets.

Synthwave, Vapourwave, Coldwave, Darkwave, or create whatever wave you like with _tidal drift.

_thrift store brings a rare find in the form of a 1970s Japanese electric piano for Ableton. 4 sampled sounds, 100 sound presets + 24 MIDI chord progressions to start with.

Watch a demo walkthrough of this pack and see what's inside here:

The Hillwood CP-2 sounds like that quirky era of synths pretending to be pianos from the 70s. There were many synthesizers as "electric pianos" but the CP-2 is truly a little know rarity. It may not be the best, but it's unique, and truly made to just sit in a song without much fuss.

The CP-2 has 4 basic sounds called Piano High, Piano Low, Harpsichord Low, and Harpsichord High. There's also a vibrato mode and sustain length setting for all sounds. We sampled the direct output for all 61 keys for each sound. After putting them into an Ableton Sampler instrument, we designed some tasty real time macro controls and built some dreamy lo-fi effects that add more of that thrift store flavour.

Lost in the thrift store? Not to worry, there's 100 different sound presets, 24 chord progressions as MIDI files or Albleton clips, and easy to use macro sound controls to dial in the right amount of discounted sound.

_tainted spaces contains 128 custom convolution reverb presets for Ableton, with a library of 113 impulse responses captured from select studio hardware.

https://youtu.be/qGT475W6dD4 When we say tainted, we mean these reverb presets aren't typical, or even necessarily perfectly sparkling specimens of spaces. The idea of convolution reverb is simple enough: you first profile the “space” by sending a signal into it, and then capture the space’s “response” to that sound. Theoretically, the space does not need to be a real space, or even a hardware reverb. The response of the space, or hardware unit adds tonal, harmonic, textural, dynamic, and time-based changes to the sound over a period of time. We wanted to take the idea of “convolution reverb” a bit further and get creative with it. We captured impulse responses (IR) from many different hardware devices including:

  • Spring Reverbs

  • Guitar Pedal Reverbs

  • Modular Eurorack Reverbs

  • Rackmount & Modular Eurorack Delays (BBD + Digital)

  • Modular Eurorack Filters, Distortions, Modulators Etc)

  • Hardware Compressors (Solid State, Optical, Tube etc)

  • Hardware Equalisers

  • Hardware Vocoder (SVC-350)

We took the 113 different IR files that were captured and designed 128 different space-based effects with them. Each preset typically blends 2 different IR flies together to create new effects that would otherwise not be possible. We created presets that impart subtle dynamic and tonal changes like an EQ or compressor, to the the shortest of spaces that emulate line feedback, to weird phaser and flanger effects, to hybrid delays with reverbs, all the way to the longest, lushest atmospheres. Wrap all of this in a custom Ableton Device Group with macro controls and presets, and sprinkle in some extras to add texture and movement, and you’ve got yourself a huge, flexible set of tainted spaces inside Ableton. Want more? Use the IR library files and create your own effects. With 113 new IR files, the possibilities are practically unlimited. It takes great deal of courage to hear the world in all its tainted glory, and even more to love it. • Minimum Requirements: Ableton 11.3.x Standard/Suite. • 128 Ableton presets as Ableton 11.3+ Group Devices (ADG files). • 113 96kHz/24bit Impulse Responses (AIF). • 100% Royalty-Free. • Designed in Vancouver, Canada by Subsocial Studios.
